Spatially selective RF excitation using k-space analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
This project develops spatially selective RF excitation schemes, based on the excitation kspace principle (Pauly et al., 1987). In particular, we develop various k-space trajectories and weighting schemes, in order to excite cylindrical, spherical, and cubical volumes. The excitation pulses are inherenctly refocused, since the trajectories end at the origin of kspace. The analysis is based on a small-tip-angle approximation, but behaves well for larger tip angles.

Compensation of concomitant Maxwell gradient effects in 3D multi-element spatially selective RF excitation
Introduction Parallel RF excitation using multi-element transmit coils is of interest to reduce pulse duration for spatially selective excitation. Originally, RF pulse design was formulated in the frequency domain for arbitrary k-space trajectories (Transmit-SENSE, [1]) or in the spatial domain for echo-planar trajectories [2]. Later, Transmit-SENSE was formulated in the spatial domain in [3] a...
متن کاملRF Pulse Design for Parallel Excitation
1. Introduction Parallel excitation has been introduced as a means of accelerating multi-dimensional, spatially-selective excitation using multiple transmit coils, each driven by a unique RF pulse (1,2). In a manner analogous to parallel imaging, parallel excitation allows the use of a reduced excitation k-space trajectory (7) to achieve a desired excitation pattern, by exploiting the blurring ...
متن کاملVERSE‐guided parallel RF excitations using dynamic field correction
In parallel RF pulse design, peak RF magnitudes and specific absorption rate levels are critical concerns in the hardware and safety limits. The variable rate selective excitation (VERSE) method is an efficient technique to limit the peak RF power by applying a local-only RF and gradient waveform reshaping while retaining the on-resonance profile. The accuracy of the excitation performed by the...
متن کاملMR image encoding by spatially selective rf excitation: An analysis using linear response models
Spatially selective radiofrequency (rf) excitation has been applied to encode magnetic resonance (MR) images using non-Fourier basis sets such as wavelets. While non-Fourier–encoded MRI has the advantage of flexibility allowing for various adaptive imaging strategies, pulse sequence implementation for spatially selective rf excitation presents unique problems. Two linear response models are des...
متن کاملSpatial domain method for the design of RF pulses in multicoil parallel excitation.
Parallel excitation has been introduced as a means of accelerating multidimensional, spatially-selective excitation using multiple transmit coils, each driven by a unique RF pulse. Previous approaches to RF pulse design in parallel excitation were either formulated in the frequency domain or restricted to echo-planar trajectories, or both. This paper presents an approach that is formulated as a...
